According to the Subdial Watch Index report from Bloomberg, the prices of both Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet watches fell by a total of 11.5 percent. This decline coincides with a rise in popularity for Rolex models such as the "Root Beer" and "Pepsi" editions in 2024, as reported by Bob’s Watches. Additionally, with Rolex planning to increase watch prices in 2025, purchasing a pre-owned luxury watch now may be a more advantageous option.
The recent price decline reflects trends from about three years ago, following the surge in watch collecting during the pandemic. In 2025, favorable prices for iconic models offer an excellent opportunity for buyers and enthusiasts to expand their watch collections.
“For collectors and buyers, now is an excellent time to discover value in iconic models such as the [Rolex] Submariner or Patek Nautilus,” he remarked, adding that “while prices may have declined, the enduring appeal and value of these brands remain as robust as ever.”
Models that were once considered out of reach, like the AP Royal Oak, may now be more attainable due to a 7.5 percent decrease in the prices of pre-owned Audemars Piguet watches. Altieri emphasizes that owning a watch from esteemed brands like Rolex or Patek Philippe comes with a rich history, style, and precision.
